    SPOILER

"George" refers to Luke's Death Star run. He notes that the Trench could be considered a vaginal corridor and talks of the great Oedipal struggle between him and his father (Vader).

But then they started making too much shit up...imho a lowlight of today's stories. I think the best are those that are funny and then make you think. Like this: Bush Addresses 8.2 Million Unemployed: 'Get a Job' [theonion.com]. I laughed then said, hey...wait...

What I'd like him to say:

"I'm sorry for all the childhoods I wrecked with The Phantom Menace and subsequent 5 years of crap that has come out of the Star Wars Franchise.

I've decided to hire some good writers to help me write the next film and I won't be directing it either, I'm thinking of maybe given Daron Aronofsky or Guillermo Del Toro a shot at it, David Fincher is also in the running. In fact I think I'm retiring, spend some time with my kids, lose some weight, take some Community College writing courses.

Except for some storyboard approvals I'll probably be removing myself from the whole thing.

Oh, and Han shot first. I don't know what the hell was I thinking..."

Thats the only he'll get me to buy these DVDs.

The guy doing Lucas on the voice over sounds like a total 15 year old geek, it's not even vaguely adult. But his cadence and comments are pretty funny, although it attempts realism a little too much. The whole "my daughter learned this was an oedipal conflict at Columbia" thing was funny, as was the line "We'd like to remaster Indiana Jones swordfight scene, because we didn't want to show Harrison hiding behind a gun." was pretty funny.

Nothing really classic, like the guys who did a spoof on Cops with Stormtrooper outfits. Anybody know if those videos can be found?

I can't watch the video with my Linux, but the html source code shows that the video is located in a 'aprilsfools' directory on the web server...

Oh, man, am I tired of this. How in HELL does a movie made as an adult have any impact on your childhood, or even things you loved as a child? Do you seriously enjoy the original movies LESS because of the new ones? Why?

My favorite is the Criterion Edition of The Fisher King. It starts out with Gilliam telling us about how he made the walls in the room to be slanted to make it look larger, and the shadows across the protagonist are bars to represent the jail that his life has become...and it goes from there.

That's what I want from my director commentaries: why they did what they did. I don't really care that the sandwiches on that day of filming were particularly tasty (unless they're important to the plot of the film or something).

"I'm sorry about obliterating all the storyline all those poor comic book writers and novelists wrote because I gave them permission. I'm so sorry. Oh, what was I thinking? Sorry.

Nah, he shouldn't be sorry about that, the expanded universe stuff wasn't really Star Wars...

It's a lot harder to call yoruself a star wars fan if the current batch of movies are embarrasing.
