Linux Asia 2005 Conference and Expo 5

Abhishek writes "Technetra reports that the Linux Asia 2005 Conference would be held from February 9, 2005 to February 11, 2005 at New Delhi, India. The conference will be attended by Linux gurus from all over Asia (and the world) to speak about emergence of Linux as the official OS in some governmental centres and other topics including Open Source Softwares and how an average user can migrate to the FOSS world from Windows. More information about this (including the venue) can be found at Technetra."

So...basically this is another nail in Microsoft's coffin.

There is no way they will succeed in markets like these.

How did this blatant advertisement get past the /. editors? Oh, let me guess - roblimo will be there this year as well.

IAC, this is another LWE-style commercial business conference. There is no technical content worth mentioning, and they treat the FLOSS community like shit. Last time they grudgingly gave us a stall at the outskirts of the expo. Like we were some sort of lower caste, unworthy pieces of scum. Worse was that our LUG accepted it like someone was doing us a favour.

    They charge an entrance fee
    • For the lug at least, it was a chance to meet and exchange GPG keys, and of course get a lot of beer down.

I was glad I was there to meet ilug-delhi, and yes, I did think most of the conference was just marketing, but I got to meet an old female friend from college, who prolly wouldn't have turned up at a technical conference :P

My brother-in-law just asked my wife to have me install Linux for him the next time that I'm in Thailand, because he's tired of Windows and wants something modern. You see, it seems that the Prime Minister (who owns a telecom and is the richest man in Thailand) uses Linux and is recommending it.
I'm pretty sure that he just wants to keep his porn surfing from the eyes of his daughter...

1 + 1 = 3, for large values of 1.
