Matt Groening to be Final Boss in New Simpsons Game

Do you know why Futurama got canceled? Because it SUCKED and got shitty ratings. The only people you ever hear want Futurama back are 35 year old virgins living in their parents' basement.

Nope it was because of bad time management. They put it in a bad time slot where it had to compete with a top rated show. American Idol, Survivor or something?

There was a Futurama game and it stunk up the place. It was the same format as every other cartoon franchise game - third person platformer. I swear they use the same engine for all those games, spend a weekend knocking some new models together, whisk up a few textured boxes to chuck obstacles in and there's your cartoon franchise game!

That said, Simpsons Hit & Run was a blast, which was a surprise as all previous Simpsons games were terrible

Not fair. They went through a bad patch but they rebounded pretty quickly, I thought. It's still a witty, inventive show. I'd say the main problem with the most recent episodes hasn't been the jokes, visual and otherwise -- they're still funny -- but the plots have become over-labored and fanboyish, with the writers constantly using whatever excuse they can to bring this or that character back into the show. The Dutch oe sounds like the English oo, but not the German one (though the German u does). The German oe (ö) sounds like the Dutch eu, which doesn't really have an equivalent in English, AFAIK.

You're exactly right- there is no direct equivalent in English. In fact, it's impossible to describe the sound with any sort of accuracy to someone who's never heard it, or never known they heard it. I had this discussion with one of the guys from my German classes, and the best thing he could come up with was it's like the u in lute, but not like the oo in loot, as much sense as that makes.

My accent can't decide where to be from, and I tend to switch back and forth between North German and Viennese frequently, often within the same sentence, depending on which professor or band I learned a word from. The o-umlaut pronunciation is from Rammstein's "Zerstoeren," where the title word is quite clearly pronounced "Tserstooooo-ren."

That's correct, but it's nice to see someone reference something other than The Simpsons when talking about Matt Groening.

I've read Akbar and Jeff [wikipedia.org] and Life In Hell [wikipedia.org] for years.
