Authorities Reportedly Question McAfee's Ex-girlfriend (networkworld.com) 50

netbuzz writes: While antivirus software pioneer John McAfee is in the media spotlight for his long-shot Libertarian presidential run, law enforcement authorities in Belize and the FBI have just this week reportedly questioned one of his ex-girlfriends as they continue to investigate the 2012 murder of McAfee's American neighbor. That probe prompted McAfee to flee Belize and eventually land back in the United States. McAfee has steadfastly denied any involvement in the murder.

Looks like someone's stirring the pot. I don't know who, but it looks like John really pissed someone off. But, until there's formal action, it's just blowing smoke up peoples asses. Trial by media, OMG what about the children??

Police have been tight-lipped about Emshwillerâ(TM)s detention and it is not known what specifically she is being questioned about. But it is known that she was one of McAfeeâ(TM)s girlfriend at the time. http://edition.channel5belize.... [channel5belize.com]

    • WTF are Emshwillerâ(TM)s and McAfeeâ(TM)s ??

      • I think it's "Emshwiller's and McAfee's", but some people are too lazy to prune the unicode out of their posts.

And now the floodgates of complaints about it are wide open.

You must be new around here.

    • ... Trial by media,...

Isn't McAffee a media whore anyways? So a 'trial by media' would be right up his alley...

    • An American was murdered. In all likelihood, McAfee did it. It doesn't matter if it happened in Belize, this is the sort of thing the FBI does for American citizens where ever they are.

Is there a number that I should call to arrange that?

That it happened in Belize is actually rather telling, and if you had spent any long time between, say, Mexico and Panama, you might have a different perspective on this. Government power is one or more of [a] arbitrary, [b] weak, and [c] for purchase. The drug trade supports healthy levels of gang activity all along the coast, and Belize is no exception -- far from it. I cannot begin to describe to you the level of corruption that exists in these countri

One one hand, in a Sanders/Trump race, McAfee might get some votes, which the one-party/two-styles government cannot allow.

On the other hand, rumor is he was pretty close to perfecting a "love potion" using real neuropharmaceutical science and had some 200 women from the town at his compound, so he had to be run out. So, count all those furious husbands among those who wish him a slow death.

    • I'm sure he's pissed a LOT of people off, but most of them probably aren't relevant to this discussion. The timing of this suggests that the real question is: "Who has he pissed off that thinks he might really have a legitimate chance at a bid for the U.S. presidency, and why do they think he has such a good chance they need to resort to this now since it will clearly have the side-effect of giving him more publicity."

I'm ... blinking twice as I'm re-reading this and actually realizing the person who stand

I'm sorry, but if he's "in the spotlight" for his presidential run, it's pretty dim, maybe needs a new bulb.

McAfees been murdering computers for years. I'm not surprised.

It is easier to write an incorrect program than understand a correct one.
