An anonymous reader writes "An unconventional article on the development of the WebKit project just listed on ArXiv http://arxiv.org/abs/1401.5996 . Those guys data-mined the WebKit source-code change-log with Social Network Analysis. They claim that, even if Apple and Samsung bitch each other with patent-wars on the courts, they still collaborate with each other in the WebKit community. It gives a different story from the Bittergia WebKit analytics , commits!=real work. Some interesting polemics regarding the Apple, Google and Nokia participation in the WebKit project are highlited in the paper. Also some nice figures capturing collaboration and rivalry in the WebKit community.
Researchers are slow !! WebKit is landing now, it's Blink that rules now. Still interesting to look at 7 years of WebKit history."
