Jeremiah Cornelius's Journal: US Journalists Targeted by Pentagon Propaganda Contractors 2
While conducting investigative reporting on civilian contractors in the Pentagon's "InfoOps" Internet propaganda operations, two reporters found themselves the subject of a highly targeted, professional media manipulation effort. Reporter Tom Vanden Brook and Editor Ray Locker found that Twitter and Facebook accounts have been created in their names, along with a Wikipedia entry and dozens of message board postings and blog comments. Websites were registered in their names. Some postings merely copied Vanden Brook's and Locker's previous reporting. Others accused them of being sponsored by the Taliban. "I find it creepy and cowardly that somebody would hide behind my name and presumably make up other names in an attempt to undermine my credibility," Vanden Brook said. If these websites were created using federal funds, it could violate federal law prohibiting the production of propaganda for domestic consumption."

Who knows where the government ends and "contractors" begin? If this Vanden Brook and Locker were on to something that could mean a nice fat contract could be in danger, these identity attacks could well be coming from the contractor protecting its golden goose instead of on the instructions of government.
When there's big money at stake, you don't even have to give implicit orders, you just maybe mention that these two journalists might be peeing in the pool and the contractor would take the hint. And the

It recalls an incident about a dozen years back where a woman involved in a procurement decision at the Pentagon was assaulted going into her apartment. Some punk threw lye on her face, burning her face, hand and cleavage.
Susan(?) was an absolute mess when she came back to work some months and a couple dozen surgeries later.
"Yeah, I'm totally on Prozac," she admitted.
