Star Blazers Available Online 220

Amphigory writes, "Anyone who was young and geeky in the 80's remembers Star Blazers -- an anime sci-fi series. Anyway, some of the episodes are now available online in their entirety. The only problem is that most of them won't play in Xanim. " I absolutely adored this show in my younger years. Lately watching Lain, DBZ and Battle Athletes has rekindled my adoration for this stuff. Highly recommended if you're nostalgic.

Final Fantasy IX Pics And Info 89

_xeno_ writes "psx.ign.com has a story that includes screen shots about Final Fantasy IX. This game is the last Final Fantasy game for the PlayStation, as future FF games will be for the PlayStation2. Apparently FFIX will be going back to the older-school Final Fantasy - that means swords and sorcery, MP, shorter summons, and characters that are drawn anime-style as opposed to FFVIII's attempt at having 'realistic' characters." Hey, maybe this time we won't have a big soap opera, either. A guy can dream, can't he?
It's funny. Laugh.

Uri Geller sues Nintendo's Pokemon 269

The-Forge writes "In this article at IGN's Sci-Fi Network, everyone's favorite spoon bending psychic, Uri Geller, is sueing Nintendo over a Pokemon charcter. The Pokemon, #65, is named Alakazam. At this point, you're probably asking yourself why. In Japan this Pokemon is called Un-Geller and carries bent spoons around all the time. And the fact that Geller got mobbed when he went X-Mas shopping in Tokyo by kids wanting him to sign their Un-Geller Pokemon cards didn't help much either. " The great part of this whole deal is the dollar amount - Geller's asking for $97 million.

Books on High-end Graphics Programming? 6

Kitsune Sushi asks: "Whenever I want to learn something I don't have any previous experience with, I try to find a halfway decent book on the subject (usually from O'Reilly or Addison-Wesley). Most of my experience revolves around C/C++ and Perl, but I've never really felt the need to do any graphics programming (I usually confine myself to a CLI on GNU/Linux.. I don't care about eye candy). However, I've recently taken interest in doing a project that requires some rather intense knowledge of graphics programming." Sounds like a call for recommendations...(more)
