Linux With A National Spanish Newspaper 14
Aloriel writes "This weekend the Spanish newspaper El Mundo is distributing a CD with the Linux distribution Guadalinex, the official distribution of Andalusia. There are other official distributions likeLinex, MAX, LLIUREX that in a few will replace nearly all Microsfot software and create new projects in order to use only Free Software in schools, hospitals and administration."

I wish some of the "security" campaigns being run by the occasional government or tv station would take notice. For your average home user (the one that prints letters, writes e-mail, surfs the web, listens to music, but doesn't necessarily have to have the latest game) there's no excuse to still be running some slow, defective product from Redmond.

The general public must be made aware of the alternatives, and the preaching af the "geek" are usually disregarded, but if the info comes from a national newspaper..

I looked at other articles and was amazed at the amount of coverage both of software in general and free software in particular. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it in a newspaper. The technology section even has a menu item for free software.
