Internet Trolls Hack Popular YouTube Channel WatchMojo

An anonymous reader writes: WatchMojo, one of the most popular channels of YouTube with over 12 million subscribers, has been hacked. Subscribers of one of YouTube's most popular channels, WatchMojo, were greeted with an unusual surprise on Wednesday evening, as a couple of hackers, known only as Obnoxious and Pein, hacked the lineup of the channel's videos. The two hackers then proceeded to rename almost all of WatchMojo's videos with the title "HACKED BY OBNOXIOUS AND PEIN twitter.com/poodlecorp." Since the channel was compromised, the hackers have uploaded two new videos, "Top 5 Facts About the Yakuza," and a video about Neanderthal myths. Apart from these, however, the hackers have not touched anything else on the channel. Though, most of WatchMojo's videos still remain hacked as of writing. The popular channel announced that it is fully aware of the hack. WatchMojo further stated that it has already contacted YouTube about the incident and that it is already starting to fix the changes to its videos.

Slashdot really needs to add a feature where if the word "hack" appears in the headline or summary, the first post is always someone saying that this isn't "hacking", with a reply to that post with the dictionary definition of "hack". Might as well just automate this process to save people the time of writing out the comments every time "hack" appears in a story.

And, yes, I realize you left out the relevant definition.

I often wonder why they bother defacing servers, especially when most admins have a roll back option that's only a few clicks away. I have seen hackers spend hours defacing game servers etc then within minutes the admin flushed the VM and rolls it back and all that work is like smoke.

I saw one of those tagged videos this morning. I clicked on the video thinking that it was going to be a discussion about someone getting hacked, and it just turned out to be a stupid Top 10 list.

I noticed those videos the other day while watching some of those stupid top-10 lists about time travelers and things you should never Google. I didn't realize that they were "hacks", just figured they were the usual YouTube fare.
