EPA Releases List of Top Cities With Energy Star-certified Buildings (axios.com) 22
EPA is out with its latest tally of buildings certified through the Energy Star efficiency program it runs with the Energy Department. From a report: Commercial and multifamily buildings are a big source of energy demand and carbon emissions. The chart shows the ranking of large cities, and this page has more about those, and smaller cities, too.

I don't know but this is the least interesting article I've seen here in months.

What's better: getting more apartment buildings energy star certified, or getting more single or dual family homes certified?
That is, on a per person basis, is a certified apartment building better than a certified single family home? I suspect so, but not sure, since apartments aren't always aiming for being most efficient vs requiring less maintenance or keeping tenants happy.
And is "per person" the best metric?

Apartments have certain economies-of-scale like central heating and cooling that can be more efficient than the smaller units single-family dwellings. On the other hand, they also have common areas (hallways, stairwells, elevators, laundry rooms, etc) that must be heated and lit 24 hours a day, unlike a single-family dwelling. Also, an apartment building is only as efficient as it's worst tenant. If your neighbor leaves his windows open all winter, it undoes the efforts of everyone else in the building.

That's one of the dumbest things I've read in a long time. Well done!
That's not how math, physics, or reality works.
