Russian Email Domains Target US Polling Sites with Bomb Threats, FBI Says (theverge.com) 39

The FBI warned on Tuesday that polling stations across multiple U.S. states received fake bomb threats sent from Russian email domains, forcing brief evacuations at two voting sites in Georgia's Fulton County.

The threats, which targeted locations in Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin, have not been deemed credible, the FBI said in a statement. The evacuated Fulton County sites reopened after 30 minutes, prompting local officials to seek extended voting hours beyond the 7 p.m. ET deadline.

The incidents follow Friday's joint intelligence warning from the FBI, ODNI, and CISA about Russian-created fake videos aimed at undermining election integrity. The agencies also reported Russian actors are spreading false claims about planned election fraud by U.S. officials.

  • Russia would use something so easily traceable, after all, how much TCPIP can you run on a washing machine microcontroller? Also, in this world, no one spoofs IP addresses or runs propaganda stories for some kind of ulterior motive...

    • Unlike the two fake videos Russia has already put out [cbsnews.com] about election integrity. Because there's no way they'd do something such as put out fake bomb threats. Just like they stated they had no intention of invading [bbc.co.uk] and attacking Ukraine.

The premise required for your statement is that Russia would have a need to hide the actions against the US.

What if Russia wants to make sure that the American people know there are consequences for aiding Ukraine? We Americans are not subtle and maybe Putin is just making sure we're all on the same page. He did promise to punish the West on multiple occasions.

Russia absolutely needs to hide it. They stand to lose MAGA support and risk massively increased support for military spending to help Ukraine if they start being overtly openly hostile to the US. This is especially the case when contemplating conducting any kind of attack or threats of attacks against the US.

In this kind of campaign, it's not all that important how ninjariffic you are. The vast majority of people who will have a reaction to this news are simply not interested in the details - they will assign blame and form reactions based on their political biases:

  • A Georgia man was already arrested for at least one of the bomb threats in Georgia. Why is the only proof Russians did something is someone saying "there is a likelihood it was Russian." Is that really all it takes for a story like this to take off? Give us the truth. https://www.usatoday.com/story... [usatoday.com]

There really is not doubt about that. His increasingly panicky attempts in the last few days (je starts to resemble the Joker, IMO) and him already preparing a campaign of lies in case he loses are quite telling. They probably have him on camera raping a few children or something like that.

Also has a video about illegal mass voter registration challenges in Pennsylvania coming in right on election Day. They are illegal because they are made with form letters without specific knowledge of any voter which isn't allowed. The Secretary of State over there isn't fucking around and is told everyone to disregard them but it's going to add a bunch of confusion and chaos one way or another which is the goal.

These ones might not be Russians in Georgia there are five people who have been challenging thousands of voter registrations and they briefly had a website up where you could easily de-register someone. It's painfully obvious the secretary of State in Georgia is in on all that and allowing it to happen.

Basically the old way of cheating in election was to send broken voting machines all around but I think people are too spread out too easily do that and so people who want to cheat by deciding who gets to vote and who doesn't have switched to using voter registration to do it.
    • Remember that, prior to the 2020 election, it was the Pennsylvania GOP who pushed through a law requiring all work on vote tabulation had to wait until after voting closes on election day... and then they started complaining about how long it was taking to get a final result.

Trump openly shits on our allies and fawns over dictators.

    • It's also a vote for a massive refugee crisis.

What do you think will happen once Trump cuts off aid to Ukraine and lets Russia conquer a nation of 33 million. Would you stick around as Russians banned your native language, your religion, and regularly "disappeared" anyone who got too loud about their Ukrainian identity?

  • Seems like the least likely place to find a bomb is where a bomb threat is made.
  • It's all absolutely true. They're trying to steal the election again. I know because I saw a video on TikTok about it! Stop the steal... again!!! ;-P
  • Pix or you didn't plant it.

If some retard clacking away at a keyboard somewhere says "bomb" and you shut down your school/hospital/whatever every single time, like clockwork, who's the idiot?
