Tzoq writes "User Friendly has hit the mainstream! The National Post, a new national newspaper in Canada, has become the first paper to carry User Friendly daily. According to an article in today's Post (not online yet) entitled "Move over Dilbert, her come the nerds of User Friendly", the Post will be featuring the best of User Friendly's first year, then introducing the current comics. Maybe Conrad Black has a sense of humour after all... " Update: 01/11 02:39 by CT : Kyt sent us a link to the National Post Story which is now online.

  • I love National Post because of my right-wing views, but NOT any racist or homophobic views whatsoever. I don't know when racism any kind of discrimination became associated with the right-wing ideal of freedom.

Maybe it's the confusion between being libertarian or being social conservative. Libertarians like me do not accept discrimination, and are simply seeking to uphold the ideal of freedom as the most important pillar of a working society. With freedom, life means nothing. On the other end, you get social conservatives such as Pat Buchanan who end up smearing the right-wing image for everybody.

    I still don't think it's very funny.

  • I just wrote a letter to the San Jose Mercury News asking them to replace "PC & Pixel", the most idiotic technology-related strip I've ever seen, with "User Friendly" on their print comics page. If other Merc readers feel the same way, I urge you to write as well.

I wasn't sure who to write to, so I just wrote to the reader rep. Make your own choice. Their feedback page is at http://www.mercurycenter.com/resources/feedback/

  • I get this paper, I'm getting User Friendly in print now, sweet!
  • Way cool! Here's hoping this is just the first of many.
  • I just spend a day beeing very productive at work, reading all User Friendly in the archive. It's nice to see such a good serie beeing given some more attention.
  • This is great and everything, but I hope that Illiad doesn't enter into any agreements that make him take the strip of the internet. That would be no good.
  • Who cares what the guys opinions are? I'm sure if Bill Gates was a tree-hugging hippy we would still think he's a monopolistic bastard :)
  • I sometimes wonder.

Of course, the Grope and Flail is even more mediocre. Why can't we have an intelligent, left-leaning but libertarian paper? Call it the Co-operative Commonwealth, perhaps.
  • Agreed -- I won't read the Post, User Friendly or not. When I call Black "The Rupert Murdoch of Canada", it's not to compliment his astute businesss sense! :)

Nonetheless, getting into even the Post is a great opportunity for Illiad, and I think we should all wish him well with this!
  • The article in the Post says that they will be showing strips from the past year, then "graudually" bringing in the current ones. It implies that this means that it will continue online concurrently. There are some details about the Post deal in the news section on the User Friendly site.
