Watch Santa Travel Across 3D Globe Via NORAD's Santa Tracker (noradsanta.org) 41

dryriver writes: Santa -- flying over Australia right now -- is flying across the globe and dropping gifts along the way. Using NORAD's Santa Tracker, we can watch him flying over a Google Earth-style 3D satellite map in realtime. "NORAD's radars detected Saint Nick's sleigh departing the North Pole just after 4 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning, shortly after he reviewed his flight plan with his nine reindeeris first stops were in eastern Russia and Asia, just in time for Christmas Day there," reports CNN.

The public can call 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) to speak live with NORAD trackers.

Let's prepare the kids for the real world, stop supporting this Coca-Cola-powered fantasy.

    • I only clicked on this article to see some super-serious guy say something ridiculous like this. Was not disappointed. Why AC though, afraid those polar bears will maul you?

Telling kids to believe you, then letting them realize it was a lie, is exactly what kids should have to prepare them for the real world.

"Welcome kids! Everything magical in life is crap." Just kidding, computers are real.

Because, let me tell you, as somebody who's a textbook example of this: You can actually measure this in the hormonal composition in the blood and brain of a grown adult. (Serotonoine, dopamine, oxytocine, etc.)
If you can't tell from his worse/failing life already. (Unless he got lucky, and got other resilience factors early.)

A kid should learn this disillusion from something outside of his safe home.

My point: Resilience factors are the difference betwe

Two out of three of those are incorrect:

            It's Serotonin and Oxytocin.

You did manage to stumble across the correct spelling for Dopamine, though. So there is that...

        • I liked this line: "Rest assured, parents, it’s not all up to you. In fact, the best approach involves supporting your kids while they figure it out on their own. They will, and it won’t be as bad as you expect."

Around age 8, as their logical facilities come online, kids will start to figure out Santa as a cultural myth (of course, they won't understand it as such).

Ah why? Santa has come and gone here. Twelve hours ago or more.

    • Americans do not understand date lines and still have a hard time with time zones.

It’s 8.30pm on Christmas Day at the time of posting this here in NZ, we’ve opened presents, ate a huge Christmas meal, drunk plenty of alcoholic beverages, regretted overdoing both of the previous two things, watched Die Hard (which is the best Christmas film ever) and are now contemplating what to do with the rest of the evening.

If Santa is currently over Australia, he’s 12 hours late at least - which means he’s probably been contracted out to DHL or something.

        • I think you mean Badder Santa!

The one and only Christmas movie uniting the harsh realism of Christmas with hilarious comedy.
Don't show it to anyone triggered by "bad words" though. :)

NORAD's radar systems are not able to read accurately through the considerable temporal distortion Santa employs to manage delivering gifts around the world in a single night. They're getting echos from 16 hours ago.

St. Greta would be appalled at the energy expended in reindeer food...oh, for fuck's sake. Environmentalists, Socialists, Communists, go eat a dick. For those who are somehow otherwise offended by the existence of Christmas, eat two. If you think that Santa is a harmful cisnormative-stereotype, go hang yourself from the nearest tree. The rest of civilization will thank you.
    • Sounds like someone just needs a bit of Christmas spirit!
      I love you!
      Xoxo

      • I get somebody wanting to show he's doing kisses. I truly do. In my country, four cheek kisses is our normal greeting with women. And emotions are important to me.

But ... Xoxo? Sounds more like our worst local salty snacks manufacturer or some other pathetic stuff.

Please actually feel the gestures you're doing. Love and kisses is good. A poem is nice. :) You know ... be nice. Not fake. :)

This is NOT a site affiliated with NORAD.

It is a malicious web site registered in 1998 that is chock full of advertizing, tracking, and other assorted malicious JavaScript.

I will not even display if JavaScript is disabled. Its primary purpose is to collect whatever data it can from the chumps that visit for the purpose of targeted advertizing, spam, and other malicious purposes.

  • They can track Santa across the world, but not a passenger airplane?
  • Apparently Google and NORAD had Santa at different positions. I guess itâ(TM)s just Santa being mischievous. https://www.bostonglobe.com/20... [bostonglobe.com]
  • Real life is so much more amazing. Being actually real, does help.

Why do some people spread this nonsense. Is this how religions started? Just a few generations of cargo cult, and we'll have a separate Santa religion?

    Show your kids something amazing!
Like making something beautiful, elegant and useful with their own hands.
Like the fascination of the unknown, observable from a safe home.
Like not being a shit parent for a change. ;)

    • If Santa isn’t real who left all the presents formulas night? Huh?

    • Like making something beautiful, elegant and useful with their own hands.

It is extremely unlikely that your kids (or you) will ever make anything as beautiful and impactful as the Santa Claus myth. Sorry.

But hey, jump in and enjoy the magic. Christmas isn't even on the right day, it's four days late.

    • Is this how religions started? Just a few generations of cargo cult, and we'll have a separate Santa religion?

Well, considering we're talking about *Saint Klaus* or *Saint Nicholas*, which would you consider came first? The chicken or the egg?

  • Instead, he's a bit like an agent of the matrix, turning bad kids into santa claus themselves to deliver the presents and then erasing their memories of doing it.

"It's a real occupation. They work at malls and their job is to take pictures with people around Christmas".

    • To round out their education, you can then show them John Belushi's Santa skit from SNL. Then snuggle up with them on Christmas Eve for a viewing of Bad Santa.

As long as we're going to reinvent the wheel again, we might as well try making it round this time. - Mike Dennison
