I think that both groups are disproportionately likely to support Trump, but I think these are small groups. My current theory is that the bulk of his support comes from an unholy coalition of haters, but their only unifying principle is negativity. They hate a wide range of things, including some things that are loved by other groups of Trump's supporters.

I don't use Facebook with my real name, though that is the name on my account.
Facebook spam uses me, but I created the account at the request of old friends, and it is one of the places you have to check when you're looking for an old friend for some reason... Basically ditto on LinkedIn, but with a tad less spam--but Microsoft will probably fix that soon.
Perhaps I shouldn't be so hard on LinkedIn as I face my retirement age? I'd rather keep on working, even in Quad 2 (of poor pay with good work), but big c

"Yes (I use a real name)", "Yes (I don't use a real name)" and "No" are three mutually exclusive answers that cover 100% of all possibilities. There is no room for a "None of the above".

You might not understand this. If you are in photos and other people upload them, Facebook may still identify and collected all the photos it thinks are you. It might just assign you a random id.
People may have mentioned your name or there may be posts or comments that Facebook weaves into a "profile" that is you.

Not necessary. Here are some other possibilities:
1 Part of the name is real and the rest is a pseudonym or incomplete - this seems to be quite common.
2 Uses only initials
3 Have multiple fb accounts with one with a real name and one with a pseudonym (eg one personal and one work)
4 Shares an account with their partner and/or relative

Two cases I can think of - an author I know has both a real account and her pseudonym (penname) on Facebook. There isn't a "both" option. I also know a musician that only appears on his community page through email he sends to the maintainer.

But the open-ended "Other" can take care of the gaps. However, the reality of polling might be more interested (from my ancient study of sociology):
1. It's fairly easy to produce any results desired by the person paying for the poll.
2. It's even easier to produce a poll that produces garbage results.
3. Producing a poll that provides meaningful insights is extremely difficult.

Technically I do have an account, because Facebook doesn't let you delete your account. Mine has been "deactivated" for years. I voted "no," but "none of the above" would have been more technically accurate. I don't have an active account that I use, and I haven't for many years, so it would be misleading to choose "yes." I was a 'none of the above' because I don't exclusively use my real name or not use my real name, because I have two accounts, one with my real name and one without. I created the one without my real name with zero friends and zero likes because I am often presented with the option to log into something with facebook and don't trust the company with access to my real information.

False, I am a legit None of the Above.
A total stranger created a Facebook account for himself from his cell phone and he populated it with his deets, pictures etc. However, he used my email address. I decided to reset the password on my account (the email to me said it was my account) and I maintain it as is as a little bit of confusion to Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, et al. as to who I really am.
I got the same thing but for a psn account. The guy must have also given the address to some work people because all of a sudden I started getting emails from what appeared be a bunch of people who owned apartments talking about what they were going to do about certain residents etc. It was actually harder to convince them that they had the wrong email address than sony.

No Facebook, no Twitter, no Gmail, no LinkedIn. I refuse to let my personal information, social connections, and browsing habits be used as fodder for profit. I'm an old school NNTP nerd who still believes that spam means repetition, autoplay video is a crime against humanity, and anonymity is a fundamental right.

What poeple have is different identities in different contexts. And it's very important, it's actually part of how you develop a personality too.
This is not full anonymity, but a very useful tool. It both exists in the real world and in the virtual world. And many people don't like it if their identities are linked.

I don't know about that. It probably depends on whether or not having a very large professional network is important for the position that you are applying for.
Oh, and if the job involves administering Facebook libraries or services then you will need a Facebook account in order to perform your work duties. (A bit like how you need a Gmail account in order to be a Google Developer.)

Noooo. You send them friend requests and they accept. You deny or ignore friend requests from the "wrong" people to the wrong account - or preempt them by sending the requests out first. Obviously you shouldn't make the basic error of putting up an easily recognisable photo of yourself and NEVER fill in any personal details/ But that is a school-child error.

It is the only place where family and friend's gather online to share photos of their families. I try my best to keep privacy filters set to keep everything I post private. Unfortunately, my brother and his friends are of the ilk that post one-sided sensationalized news stories and "post this bullshit about faith/friends to see who responds" type of crap. Sigh. The only thing that has gotten better over time has been the reduction of Zynga spam.

I got sucked into it the same way. Best friends having a wedding, organizing it through there. Now I make sure to post something very not safe for kids every month or so, just to remind them not to let their kids use their computer. It is a public service I perform.

I refuse, even when friends are doing stuff like that, out of principle. But now I feel like a shitheel.
Thing is, I had a friend who was dying of cancer. The last few years he'd come out with us when he felt up to it, and I could talk with him then, but mostly he kept up and wrapped up his affairs with his friends and family via Facebook. He was supposed to die in about 6 months, but he made almost 5 years, and I honestly think it was in a large part because stuff like that gave him something to want to live for. He saved another friend of mine's life during those extra 4 years (used CPR when the guy had a heart attack).
He asked me multiple times to get Facebook for him. I tried multiple times to explain my problems with it, but this is a guy who was great with cars and soccer, but couldn't give two shits about computing freedom issues. Couldn't even understand them, really. Every time I tried to explain my issues with it, I sounded like an asshole even to me.
Now he's gone, and looking back on it, frankly I was being a shitty friend for no real good reason. Some things are more important than being Right.

I have a FB ccount with zero friends with privacy settings that allows only friends of friends to search me. And a fake name, of course.
I use it for websites that offer facebook log-in, its great not to have to create new accounts all over the place and in return I let them post whatever they want on my timeline. :)

I basically only use Facebook to keep track of events (koncerts, musik quizzes, that sort of thing).
I don't participate in any games or online "which Harry Potter character are you?"-type quizzes, and I aggressively hide everything even remotely relates to those things or anything that smells even vaguely like clickbait.
I can't imagine what goes through the heads of people who subscribe to pictures of scantily clad ladies or air strong political political opinions on Facebook, especially not under their own

Not using your real name is futile. It's likely easily extraced from the Facebook dataset, even if you don't have an account, so not having an account is futile too. The question is not whether you have an account, the question is whether your friends and family are going to upload pictures and mail/phone addressbooks that include you. Don't worry, most of them will.

There is a solution: Change your name to something ridiculously common (John or Mary Smith) and continue using your old name, not telling anyone but Facebook about your JohnSmith. Somewhat the reverse of what Marion Michael Morrison did, never using his birth name after he established a life as John Wayne. So long as a false name is not used for purposes of fraud, using whatever name(s) you choose is legal in the USA -- don't know about other countries, though.

Whether or not FB is a privacy-breaching metadata collector (it is, just like Google), if you "don't have a Facebook account" the first question will be "why not?" in my circle. As in: what are you trying to hide.
It's fine to not go on often -- people do their own things whenever -- but not having an account is weird and vaguely suspicious. I can count the number my friends who've never had an account at all on one hand.

I ditched Facebook, it was a nice piece of groupware for consumers but the content has shifted to clickbait and nonsense. Also, Messenger turned into MSN/Myspace. Still use Whatsapp though. That said, when I used it, I tend to go for real name more these days than before. The only sane reasons that I have read for joining Facebook almost require using one's own name. My real friends who use computers probably have one of my email addresses, so they don't need it, but if I wanted to connect to long-lost high school or college associates then using "NotMy Name" as my Facebook name would defeat the whole purpose of the exercise. If I used it to communicate with possible and actual clients or business associates, likewise.

Use the old one, and really confuse the Big Brother processes that match leaked Slashdot account info to real identities (whatever those are -- names aren't, as any John Jones would say, and SSNs aren't, since in the early days, people could have multiple SSNs, and a lot of people used the same (wrong) one because a wallet maker included a sample Social Security Card which buyers apparently thought were individualized to them).
