Remember though, sometimes it's more a case of bandwidth than backend. My primary line is 768k dsl. I don't care of you have a cray optimized with a team of sevants behind it, it won't handle it unless you're serving a 4k page with nothing embedded.

We're not talking about some really big video file of Natalie Portman and hot grits or something. The sites that in this day and age still can't handle a little attention are invariably the ones with shoddy programming in hipster script languages.

There are already much better alternative to photosynth for free 3d reconstruction.
www.arc3d.be has a new prototype version online that gives you a complete dense and textured mesh.. no more sparse point clouds!

The Webpage is in very early Beta testing, Google account login will be coming up soon and normal viewing after that. Facebook logjn verification does not take any of your data like some applications do on Facebook, it is simply login you in to be able to make comments and likes as it is now. Along with the possibility for you to make your own models.

I wonder if they are using Web Workers? Distributing the work while people are visiting the web site would surely help speed up the processing and distribute the load. That's a good idea. I wouldn't mind connecting if I saw what it was all about and wanted to make something, but requiring FB just to view makes it look like a fake site to lure people in so it can spam their FB accounts.
I am a FB user, but I avoid the apps; too many of them are evil.
