Livestreaming Now: Free Software Foundation's 'LibrePlanet' Conference (libreplanet.org) 9

Slashdot reader DevNull127 writes: It's happening now — and you can watch it live online.

Saturday is the beginning of the fifteenth edition of the Free Software Foundation's conference on ethical technology and user freedom. And they're livestreaming the talks — with three different livestreams available online from the conference's Jupiter Room, Saturn Room, and Neptune Room.

This year's theme is "Charting the Course" — here's a complete schedule of the talks. Topics will include freedom hardware, free software for non-developers, free licensing of trademarks, Emacs for P2P deliberation, free software boot, DIY browsers, free/libre payment systems, "the future of the right to repair and free software", and a talk on Sunday titled "It's time to jailbreak the farm."

UPDATE: You can now watch videos of the event at media.libreplanet.org.

  • Dominates the most exciting technological advances these days. As a technical nerd around for a while it is heartwarming to see the ascendancy of Open source and how it seems to eclipse proprietary software lately.
  • Codecs used to stream this event 100% free software? How about the OS of the servers and cameras? I’m not watching unless it it’s viewable on GNU Hurd.

  • Half of you considering--don't. Make 'em want it and don't reward attention garnering. Otherwise they'll just start doing shit that isn't building an office suite. I happen to like LibreOffice. We can do this!
  • I feel like I'm just helping to train some rich dude's Al bot for free so he can put me out of a job and use my wages to help fuel his superyacht
  • None of the streaming works on the site. The "low resolution" links on the right sidebar all 404. Typical for a bunch of neckbeards.
