Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix Becomes Official Ubuntu Flavor (9to5linux.com) 17
prisoninmate shares a report from 9to5Linux: The Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix distribution has become an official Ubuntu flavor and will join the rest of the flavors starting with the upcoming Ubuntu 23.04 (Lunar Lobster) release. Created and maintained by members of the Linux community, Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix is an Ubuntu derivative that features the modern Cinnamon desktop environment developed by the Linux Mint team. Cinnamon Remix aims to offer a traditional approach to the modern Linux desktop.
Until now, the maintainers of Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix did a very good job keeping up with all upstream Ubuntu releases, even offering a custom version of the official wallpaper of each new Ubuntu release to match the Cinnamon desktop environment's style. Ubuntu Cinnamon will not be the only new official Ubuntu flavor this Spring when Ubuntu 23.04 will be released as the maintainers of Ubuntu Unity have also managed to obtain official Ubuntu flavor status last year in September. As with Ubuntu Unity, the next step now for the Ubuntu Cinnamon maintainers is to bake daily ISO images in preparation for the upcoming Lunar Lobster release and maybe even take part in the Ubuntu 23.04 beta release later this week on March 30th. The latest Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix release and can be downloaded here.

Um, nah, nice try. I will stick with Mint as my recommendation for desktop Linux. Cinnamon was born in Mint. And Mint isn't trying to force Snaps down everyone's throats. They even have native packages for everything, including Firefox current. Better installer, better privacy, longer support. And if things go even worse with Ubuntu, they are even gearing up moving to base directly off Debian.

While I agree, Mint GIVES you cinnamon. So you can enjoy both flavors, and without the Snappy aftertaste.

I love it for desktop, better than Ubuntu.
For servers, BSD 8D

I like Mint a lot and recommend it to friends and family, but I've never been able to figure out how the minor versions work. Should not Mint 20 just update itself to the latest minor version as the packages are released? I don't understand why Mint has 20.1, 20.2, 20.3, etc. Very confusing, especially as Mint is often recommended to new users. Can anyone enlighten me as to how this is supposed to work?
