Cool AMD News

Pierre Phaneuf hooked us up with all the juicy news from AMD. He writes " AMD announced that it's next generation processors K7 will be packaged in a cartridge (called Slot A) physically compatible with Intel's Slot 1.

Also, using Digital I/O bus technology, motherboards with system bus going at a cool 333MHz would be able to support both AMD and (Slot A-packaged) Alpha chips, with a simple BIOS change (which could be flash). This will also put the Alpha in the commodity market, using large-volume motherboards and chipsets made for the Intel-compatible K7."
