Public Software Institute

Michael Dillon writes "The Public Software Institute is trying to solve the problem of how to pay for open-source software development. They work with the Computer Science departments of colleges to get teams of students developing open-source applications and learning at the same time. But if you want to use their code for a private product then you have to pay them. Under the GPL you are forced to release source but under their licence you can choose between releasing source or paying the open-source community for their work. "
