Some Slashdot Notes

Allright I have a whole slew of announcements worth making related to the site, so I'm just going to get them out in a bundle. First off, the variable width thing is now working pretty well. Hopefulyl everybody likes it. Next, we've been having server problems- I'm not sure if its Mysql, Mod_perl, or one of my scripts, it just seems that occasionally the database connections slip up. Quite wierd. Hit the link below to read a bunch more notes.

We pulled the 'flat style' comments because the script seemed to have a rare memory leak that caused an httpd to blow up. As soon as we have time to fix it, it'll be back.

I've now come accross a wierd thing with Opera and Netscape2. I basically need to choose one. Last week we had 2600 Opera Visits, and 1600 Netscape 2.* visits. So if you're running Netscape 2, it's time to move to 3+, and all you Opera fanatics can stop complaining :)

We're going to add comments to the poll booth soon enough. Just sit back an wait, it's on "the big list"

The Mystery Project is now sorta alpha-ish. Everyone will be able to see it in a few weeks now. It just needs to look a little better and have some documentation, and, well, a homepage.

Lastly is a tiny request. I know I have cool readers, and some of you must dig Southpark and MST3k. My crappy cable service means that I am now in complete MST3k withdrawl, and the only Southpark I have ever seen is the soxmas.avi, and the episode with George Clooney as the gay dog. If you happen to be taping either of these shows, and want to express your appreciation for Slashdot, I would absolutely love copies. drop me an email if you have the generosity in your heart to give me the gift of laughter while I'm trapped in this terrible Comedy Central and SciFi channel free hell.
