Bell Atlantic and GTE Merging

Bell Atlantic and GTE have made it official: they're merging. Assuming it goes through, the new company will have a market cap of over US$125B. It raises some interesting questions, too, like will Bell Atlantic finally be able to enter the long distance market? Will there be a shift in the balance of power over the internet backbone? What about the wireless market? Ok, now it's time for a little editorialism. I hope this gets shot down by the US FTC. Bell Atlantic is evil. $250/month for an ISDN line (no ISP service), and horrid service (in my experience). The sad part is, I'm so eager to get an ADSL line from them. Thanks to Robert Edmonds for updating me on the situation.
