Bell Atlantic and GTE Merging

Bell Atlantic and GTE have made it official: they're merging. Assuming it goes through, the new company will have a market cap of over US$125B. It raises some interesting questions, too, like will Bell Atlantic finally be able to enter the long distance market? Will there be a shift in the balance of power over the internet backbone? What about the wireless market? Ok, now it's time for a little editorialism. I hope this gets shot down by the US FTC. Bell Atlantic is evil. $250/month for an ISDN line (no ISP service), and horrid service (in my experience). The sad part is, I'm so eager to get an ADSL line from them.
