It's been a busy day. Last day of summer vacation. I'm
tired, so lets get to work.
- Cookie stuff is more-or-less working. The expiration dates are probably wrong, but I'll get to that tomorrow. For now at least Lynx & Netscape are working. I haven't tested IE. Hopefully it works. If not, well, I won't lose much sleep *grin*.
- The User account stuff has been cleaned up. We now can hit a 'User Info' page which will display the total # of comments posted from an account, as well as listing them. Password changing is next. If I get to busy, I'll just add it to the user edit page. It's not super secure, but it'll be ok for a few weeks.
- I went on a code binge early this morning and fixed a ton of niggles throughout the system. Mainly the fixes will allow logging in and posting of comments to be done simultaneously.
- I'm not currently planning on allowing anonymous posters to select alternate names. I might change my mind in a few weeks, but I think if folks will just log in and give it a chance, they'll be fine. It's really no different then before, except your cookie should be smaller because I'm storing your URL/Email/Name here, and not in your cookie :)
- The rumors of my service with the Federation has been greatly exagerated. Contrary to rumours being propogated on evil websites, I did not serve any time aboard the Starship Enterprise. My mother is not named Beverly. And the allegations of my relationship with Lt. Cmdr. Data were greatly exagerated, it was more like a good friendship then a torrid love affair. I was his superior officer and all, it just wouldn't have been appropriate.
- SlashNET had some wackiness. For those of you who know the details, all I'm gonna say is that the GPL is the GPL if its a billion dollar corporation, or a guy in his basement. The DNS is propogating to new IPs, and hopefully by now things are back to normal.
- I bought a breadmaker a while ago. Today it was finally below 140 degrees out for a change so Nate and I broke down and made bread. Loaf 1 was a soggy lump. It resides in a mushy pile in my trashcan (thank god pickup is tomorrow). Loaf 2 didn't seem to want to rise. It looks sorta like cornbread, only its a lot denser. It resides on my counter. I'm afraid to move it for fear of throwing my back out again. Dave hasn't noticed, he's on his 3rd slice. Loaf 3 shall be burnt tomorrow afternoon if I go nutty and get more flour.
- Catch everyone tomorrow. I'm exhausted
